College Corner tidbits: Bellwood’s Leap wins long jump for PSU

Brian Leap, a Bellwood-Antis graduate, won the long jump with a 23-6.75 performance for the Penn State track and field team at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup this past weekend.

Altoona graduate Wade Endress was a part of the second-place distance medley relay team that finished in 9:56.94.

The Penn State men finished second, one point behind Connecticut, in the event.

Alexis Ebersole of Altoona placed fifth in the 800 (2:21.07) and was a member of the third-place distance medley relay (12:27.26) as she helped the Robert Morris University women’s track and field team to a third-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships in Landover, Md.

Elle Collins, a Hollidaysburg graduate, led all scorers with 25 points for the St. Vincent women’s basketball team in a victory over Washington & Jefferson.

Collins also led all scorers with 13 points in a win over Grove City later in the week for the 15-6 squad.

Bishop Carroll graduate Emily Waksmunski placed sixth in the mile run for the Bucknell women’s track and field team at the Akron Invitational with a personal-best time of 5:01.34.

Altoona graduate Tyler Mandley finished ninth place in the 60-meter hurdles for the Juniata track and field team at the Susquehanna Crusader Classic Saturday.

Mandley had a personal-best time of 8.97 seconds.
