Williams garners academic honor
From Mirror reports
LORETTO – St. Francis University women’s basketball senior forward Alli Williams was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District II First Team, announced by CoSida on Thursday afternoon.
Williams became just the second women’s basketball Capital One Academic All-America selection at Saint Francis for her efforts in the classroom and on the court in 2012-13. Williams will have the chance to match Beth Swink who was a two-time Academic All-America selection for SFU in 2004 and 2005.
As a first team selection, Williams will again be considered for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced later this month.
This is Williams’ third consecutive Capital One Academic All-District II First Team selection.
The Altoona native leads the Northeast Conference and ranks eighth in the nation in scoring at 23.4 points per game and is second in the NEC in rebounding at 9.8 per contest. Williams also leads the league in steals and is third in the nation at 3.21 per game.
Williams also became just the third member in St. Francis women’s basketball history to reach the 1,000-rebound plateau last week. She is also on pace to reach 2,000 career points, which will make her just the fourth player in Northeast Conference history to do so. Williams would however be the first to have 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and over 300 steals.
