Lady Devils spike Purchase Line in opener
BELLWOOD – Emily Nagle scored 13 service points, 27 kills and five blocks to lead Bellwood-Antis to a 20-25, 25-20, 30-28, 25-15 victory over Purchase Line in a first-round District 6 Class A girls volleyball playoff match on Monday night.
Bellwood (15-4), which moves on to second-round action against West Branch tonight at 6 p.m. at Bishop Carroll, also got 13 service points from Emily Hanwell, 29 assists and 10 service points from Kelly Leamer, 11 service points from Sophia Damiano, and 12 digs and seven service points from Gabby Troutman.
BELLWOOD-ANTIS: Hanwell 13, Nagle 11, Damiano 11, Leamer 10, Troutman 7.

Portage outlasts Ferndale
BELLWOOD – Portage won the first two sets (25-23 and 25-16), dropped the middle two (19-25 and 16-25) and then finished off Ferndale in the final, 15-6, to advance in District 6 Class A first-round action at Bellwood-Antis High School.
Alli Kissell led the Lady Mustangs with 29 service points (five aces), 14 digs and 13 kills.
Monica Lutz contributed 38 assists and 16 service points, while Olivia McCabe tallied 26 kills and 11 service points as Portage improved to 11-8.
The Lady Mustangs, the 10th seed with an 11-8 record, will play at No. 1 Bishop Carroll at 7:30 tonight.

Westmont sweeps Panthers
CRESSON – Westmont Hilltop ended Penn Cambria’s season with a straight-set 25-21, 25-19, 25-22 decision in a first-round District 6-AA playoff game at Penn Cambria High School.
Tori Shingler had 15 kills, Kelly Yusko had 22 assists, and Kaley Strittmatter scored seven service points for sixth-seeded Penn Cambria, which wrapped up an 11-8 season.
Westmont Hilltop, the 11th seed, faces third seed Bald Eagle Area in the quarterfinals tonight at 6 p.m. at Richland High School.

Central beaten by Rams
SPRING MILLS – Central’s season came to a close with a 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-21 setback to Penns Valley in the District 6 Class AA first-round playoffs.
Central, the No. 9 seed, received 11 kills and 23 digs from Tessa Shaw, 12 kills, two blocks and 16 digs from Ashley Smith, 32 assists and 11 digs from Megan Hauser and 12 service points, seven kills and five blocks from Laura Ritchey.
Penns Valley, the No. 8 seed, will play at top-seeded Philipsburg-Osceola at 7:30 tonight.
