Guilfoyle’s McGhee sets state goals record

EBENSBURG – Alyssa McGhee scored eight goals and had three assists to help Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic top Bishop Carroll Catholic, 17-1, in high school girls soccer Wednesday.

With her performance, McGhee set a new PIAA state record for goals in a season with 73, according to BG coach Harry McGhee. The previous record of 70 was set in 1995 by Ellen Krasik of Woodland Hills. In addition, McGhee now has 36 assists for the year.

Jordan DeLeo added three goals and three assists, and Delaney Myrick had three goals and an assist.

Paisley Zatek scored the Lady Huskies’ lone goal.

Morchesky also scored in the first half for the Lady Highlanders (6-13). Central Cambria got its lone goal from Ashley Shaheen.

ROARING SPRING – Rachel Fleming scored a pair of goals, and Ashley Laird recorded a shutout as the goalkeeper to help Huntingdon defeat Central in a Mountain League contest.

Haley Thomas scored both of the Crushers’ goals.
