BG beats McCort to finish unbeaten

JOHNSTOWN – Ian Luther ran for three touchdowns as Bishop Guilfoyle completed an unbeaten junior varsity football season with a 24-15 victory over Bishop McCort on Monday.

Luther ran 2 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, and added scoring runs of 3 and 12 yards in the fourth quarter, as BG wrapped up its season with a 7-0-1 record.

The Marauders’ other touchdown came on Nathan Hagg’s 58-yard first-quarter pass to Anthony Livoti.

HUNTINGDON – Noah Benton threw four touchdown passes, three to Justin Helsel, as Central wrapped up an 8-1 junior varsity season by routing Huntingdon.

Benton hit Helsel with scoring passes of 65, 45 and 60 yards, and also connected with Knepp on a 30-yard TD pass, all in the first half.

Eric Calhoun ran 10 yards in the third quarter for Central’s final score.

Lions open with win

GREENSBURG – The Altoona Area varsity ice hockey team opened its season with a 5-3 victory over Greensburg Salem at Kirk S. Nevin Arena.

Austin Myers delivered two goals and an assist for the Lions, and Joseph Dombrowski scored two goals. Camrin Yoder had Altoona’s other goal.

Altoona goalie Catcher Cumming stopped 34 of 37 shots.
