Stroh’s close win keys Mtn. Lions

The Altoona boys cross country team defeated Kiski Area, 22-39, on Thursday afternoon at Logan Elementary School to improve to 3-0.

Dominic Stroh won the meet in 16:46. He beat Kiski’s Patrick Miller by less than 1 second. Brad Foust finished third with a 16:55 for the Mountain Lions.

The Altoona girls squad fell to Kiski Area, 40-18, to fall to 0-3. Kiski claimed the top four spots in the race, led by Megan Aller with a 20:49. Morgan Pensyl finished first for the Mountain Lions and fifth overall in 20:56. Brianna Geist placed sixth with a 22:04.

Whitehead keys P-O

PHILIPSBURG – Led by Kylie Whitehead’s winning time of 23:43, the Philipsburg-Osceola girls team defeated Mount Union, 26-31.

P-O’s Mandy Schmidt and Taylor Guelich followed Whitehead in second and third, respectively.

Mount Union won the boys race, 24-31. P-O’s best finish was Payton Moore in fourth place. Mount Union’s Jake Boozel won the race in 19:57.
