Lady Lions roll past Huntingdon
Altoona improved to 2-0 on the high school tennis season with a 6-1 victory over visiting Huntingdon Monday.
Marina Dixon, Kayla Letscher, Kirsten Wills, Maddie Seidel and Malia Schimminger swept the singles matches for Altoona, while Taylor Stoudnour and Abby Orr teamed for an Altoona doubles victory.
Huntingdon’s doubles team of Katie Gipe and Abby Snare produced the lone Lady Bearcats’ win.

BEDFORD – Despite a singles victory from Allison Shuke and a doubles triumph from the team of Hannah Brown and Mackenzie Mohr, Bedford dropped to 1-2 with a 3-2 loss to visiting Forest Hills.

GOLF
State College wins Yurochko
ROARING SPRING – Both the State College boys and girls teams posted championships in the 16th annual Thomas Yurochko High School Invitational Golf Tournament at Iron Masters Country Club.
The State College boys, led by the score of 70 posted by the team of Alex Stover and Christian Friberg, posted a team score of 144 in the Ryder Cup-style event, which featured two-man teams from each school and six holes of best-ball, six halls of alternate shot, and six holes of scramble.
The Hollidaysburg boys team, led by the score of 74 from Hunter Shields and Dave Snyder, finished in second place with a team score of 151, while Penn Cambria, led by a score of 79 from Ian Dunmyer and Nolan Link, was third with a team score of 156.
The State College girls team, with a score of 186, finished ahead of second-place Hollidaysburg (201).

Red Devils fall
WINDBER – Richland edged Central Cambria, 397-413, in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference golf match at Windber Country Club Monday.
Gabe Seymour led the Red Devils with a 78, and both Jeremy Eckenrode and Dom Stevens chipped in with 79s.
Richland’s Andrew Watt shot a 76 to register medalist honors. Richland improved to 3-0.
