Golden Tigers roll past three teams

Led by Hunter Shields’ medalist score of 73, Hollidaysburg swept three matches from State College, host Altoona, and Central Monday on the Park Hills Country Club course.

Isaac Wood carded a 77 for the Golden Tigers, who posted a team score of 312 to finish ahead of second-place State College (325), third-place Altoona (355), and fourth-place Central (366).

Tyrus Gates led State College with a 76, Trentin Martin paced Altoona with an 82, and Preston Gregg fronted Central with a 92.

It was the season-opening competition for Hollidaysburg (3-0), State College (2-1) and Altoona (1-2). Central is 1-3 on the season.

Devils win tourney

JOHNSTOWN – Central Cambria won the 2013 George Anderson Memorial public high school tournament held at Northfork Country Club.

Seven schools participated in the event.

Central Cambria’s winning score was 225, followed by Richland at 243 and Conemaugh Township at 247.

The tournament medalist was Gabe Seymour of Central Cambria with a score of 71. Members of the Central Cambria team are Collin Seymour, Dom Stevens, and Jeremy Eckenrode.
