Three local golfers win titles

HUNTINGDON – Three local golfers won first place in their divisions when the North East Junior Golf Tour was at Standing Stone Golf Club on Friday.

Hollidaysburg’s Jerome Landry (80) won the boys 16-18 Oakmont Division, Danny Stubbs (81) on the boys 16-18 Pine Valley Division and Kyler Pennabaker of New Paris captured first in the Boys 10-12 Oakmond Division.

Jesse Ottaway (87), also of Hollidaysburg, finished behind Stubbs in the Pine Valley Division.

Altoona’s Nate Lawhead (95) and Tyrone’s Ethan Vipond (97) came in third and fourth place in the boys 13-15 Pine Valley Division.

Cherry Creek Golf Club

YOUNGWOOD – Jerony Landry (78) won the boys 16-18 Oakmont Division on Monday as the North East Junior Golf Tour played at Cherry Creek Golf Club.

Dom Stevens, of Ebensburg, finished in second place in the boys 13-15 Oakmont Division, while Kyler Pennabaker (86), of New Paris, came in second in the boys 10-12 Oakmont Divison.

Other local golfers that finished were Cresson’s Greg Caldwell (102), who finished third in the boys 10-12 Pine Valley Divison, and Lauren Stevens (100), of Ebensburg, finished fifth in the boys 13-15 Pine Valley Division.

Summit Country Club

CRESSON – Brent Krug and P.J. Shell (137) won the first flight of the Member-Guest Tournament held at the Summit Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Dale Perino and Andy Lubert (148) combined to win the second flight, while the third flight was won by Ethan Hummel and Mike Winn (156).

Todd Ritchey and Kevin Plazek (161) teamed up to win the fourth flight, and Doc Burgoon and Emil Saloney (173) tied with the team of Therese Perino and Paula Passanita (173) for first place in the fifth flight.

Jeff Herman (tee shot on 4, 2nd shot on 6, tee shot on 8) won three skills prizes, while Brent Krug (tee shot on 4, tee shot on 12), Jeff Garda (tee shot on 8, tee shot on 12) and Dave States (putt on 9, 2nd shot on 17) each won two skill prizes.
