Taylor’s four-hitter keys Johnston

Justin Taylor fired a complete-game four-hitter with nine strikeouts to help Johnston Realty edge Delweld, 2-1, in a AAABA League game at Juniata on Saturday.

With the game tied, 1-1, heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, Mike Marcinko singled and scored on a Cody Doran sacrifice and two errors. Ryan Hill singled in Johnston’s run in the fourth inning.

STOYSTOWN – Claysburg improved to 12-2 with 9-0 and 12-1 victories over Stoystown.

Trey Claar earned the win in the first game and had two hits and three RBIs, and Kasy Hamm went 3-for-3. Cameron Strayer drove in three runs in the second game and also earned the victory.

Claysburg pitchers held Stoystown to three hits combined in the two games.

Lilly beats Portage twice

LILLY – Lilly swept a Cambria County Legion doubleheader, 2-1 and 10-2, against Portage.

In the first game, Justin Fuller’s walkoff single scored James Mardula with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Lilly’s Gavin Martynuska had two hits, both doubles, and Jake Schwaderer pitched a complete-game four-hitter.

In the second game, Lilly’s Jake Hurley and Mark Mardula had three hits apiece, and James Mardula and Schwaderer had two hits apiece. Zane Itle tossed a three-hitter.

MILROY – The Altoona 13-year-old Babe Ruth all-star team opened the double-elimination district tournament by beating Mifflin County, 13-3, in six innings.

Altoona’s Ryan Shope had three hits and three RBIs, and Mifflin County’s Cole Baker had two hits.

Altoona will play against Monday at 7 p.m. against Perry County in Milroy.
