Kirsch wins qualifying tourney by 1 stroke

EBENSBURG – Ebensburg’s Max Kirsch carded a 73 to win the PNC West Penn Open Qualifying Tournament by one stroke over Indiana’s Matt Holuta (74) at the Ebensburg Country Club.

Ebensburg’s Edward Maruca (75) finished third. Ebensburg’s Kyle DeYulis (83) and Michael Binney (88) also competed.

Park Hills

Lynn Grove, Rick Drabic and Don McKnight took first in the gross division of of the Park Hills Senior Slam, while Rich Papp, Joe Saciaro, Rick Buchannan and Basil Mannino took second. Ray Thomas, Don Dandrea and Bill Wolf placed third.

Herb Bolger, Tom Moore and Paul Smith won the net division, while Jack Sears, Bill Dambeck and Hank Codd took second. Ken Waite, Dave Francis and Bob Lestochi finished third.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Mary Jane Terza, Alice Foor and Denny Madden carded a 38 and won a card-off against Carol Young, Roz Sky, Linda Wise and Lynn Durbin to win the Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Association’s Ladies Scramble on Tuesday.

Brenda Flick, Shirley Wilkinson, Sue Green and Linda King (40) finished third.


CRESSON – Jim Osborn, Todd Homan, Jeff Bickel and Scott Feathers carded a 59 to win the PennDot Relay For Life Four-Player Scramble Tuesday at the Summit Country Club.

Jim Kohler, Matt Donatelli, Bob Mickle and Greg Facciani (62) finished second, while Dave Sherman, Mike Bougher, Joe Stoy and Glenn Raymond (63) placed third.

Skill prize winners were Steve Jano (longest drive on 3), Sherman (closest tee shot on 4), Brian Clapper (closest tee shot on 8), Jim Young (closest tee shot on 12) and Dave Snively (longest putt on 18).

Sinking Valley

TYRONE – Matt Brooks, Andy Kushner, Michael Gority and Mark Schimminger (30) won the Sinking Valley Country Club’s Tuesday Night Scramble.

Gregory Ferguson, Dan Hegarty, Yogi Johannes and Michael Laird (30) took second.


HUNTINGDON – Ed Gargula carded a 38 to win the low gross, and Bill Frazier scored a 34 to win the low net in the Huntingdon Country Club’s Big Orange Golf League.

Rick Bayer’s putt on the ninth hole for par was the shot of the day.
