High school volleyball roundup

The Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School boys volleyball team improved to 10-2 with a 25-8, 25-18, 25-8 win over Central at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium on Thursday.

Colin Welteroth led the winners with 12 service points, while teammate Brennan Hurd added 10. Ben Kasun chipped in with 28 assists, while Nick Little added 11 kills and Jamey Brumbaugh six aces.

Central got five blocks from Dylan Appleman.

Forest Hills tops Altoona

SIDMAN – Altoona fell to 5-4 with a 25-16, 25-18, 29-31, 29-27 loss at Forest Hills.

Brett Koelle led Altoona with seven service points and 13 kills, while Josh Huber added 10 blocks. Justin Perino chipped in with 21 assists to go with 19 from Eric Wineland.

Carroll tops Spring Cove

ROARING SPRING – Hannah Kotchen finished with 12 kills, Jordyn Platt delivered 16 assists, and Caroline Semelsberger served 11 points as Bishop Carroll improved to 13-2 with a 25-15, 25-12 win at Spring Cove in junior high girls action.

JV: Bishop Carroll, 25-11, 25-14. Bishop Carroll is 13-2.

PC juniors now 14-1

GALLITZIN – Penn Cambria junior high received seven service points from Riley Anderson as it put away Forest Hills, 25-22, 14-25, 15-6, to raise its record to 14-1.

JV: Forest Hills, 26-24, 25-12.

Heights bests CC

PATTON – Tara Renninger had six aces for the Cambria Heights junior high team as it defeated Central Cambria, 25-19, 25-21.

Records: Cambria Heights (5-9).

JV match: Central Cambria, 25-11, 21-25, 15-2.
