High school softball roundup

CRESSON – MacKenzie McIntosh and winning pitcher Kelly Yusko each tripled and singled to lift Penn Cambria over Central Cambria, 4-1, in high school softball on Thursday.

Yusko knocked in two runs for the Lady Panthers. Central Cambria’s Chelsey Long recorded two hits for Central Cambria.

EBENSBURG – Lindsey Kosicki tripled twice and drove in two runs, and Cambria Heights scored four times in the top of the seventh to break open a close game, as the Lady Highlanders picked up a Laurel Highlands Conference win at Bishop Carroll.

Cori James and Lydia Slovikosky added two hits each for Heights, while Allison Lidwell knocked in two runs.

Sarah Gomish homered and drove in four runs for Carroll, which also received three hits from Courtney Link and two each from Brooke Menton, Janelle Gueguen and Abby Simmons.

HUNTINGDON – Katelyn Burge pitched a three-hitter, striking out six while walking two in pitching Philipsburg-Osceola past Huntingdon in just six innings.

Mackenzie Burge had three hits and two RBIs for the winners, who scored six times in the third inning. Haylee Hayward added two RBIs to go with two hits from Abby Showers. Burge helped herself out with a two-run home run.

Winning pitcher Kylie Gunnett slugged a two-run homer for the Lady Dragons, while Ashley Smith drove in four runs, and Kassidy Snyder came up with three RBIs on a pair of hits.

STATE COLLEGE – Camryn Frank went 4-for-4 with two singles, a double and a triple in leading the Philipsburg-Osceola junior high A team to a 17-3 win over Mount Nittany.

McKendz Kephart delivered two singles and a home run for P-O, now 6-6.

Lady Vikes win

FLINTON – The Glendale junior high team improved to 7-2, thanks to a 9-7 win over West Branch. Mackenzie Lukehart doubled twice and drove in three runs while Anna Fowler added a two-run double.
