Heights holds off Lady Colts’ rally

NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Down by a run, Northern Cambria had runners on second and third with no outs, but Cambria Heights pitcher Cori James struck out the next two batters and induced a ground ball for the third out to preserve a 5-4 win in high school softball Wednesday.

Heights’ Lindsey Kosicki had two hits, as did Northern Cambria’s Zoey Gailey and Bre Sabella. James struck out nine and walked none.

PHILIPSBURG – Morgan Feiler had two RBIs, and Mikayla Focht had eight strikeouts as the Hollidaysburg junior high team defeated Philipsburg-Osceola, 7-5, in the first game of a doubleheader.

Hollidaysburg is 15-7. The P-O A team is 5-6. Maggie Peck had eight strikeouts in the loss

In the second game, Ashley Helsel had a double and scored a run for Hollidaysburg as it fell to the P-O B team, which is 6-5.
