F-M’s Lauthers stymies Warriors

EVERETT – Blair Lauthers pitched a six-hitter and struck out 11 batters as Fannett-Metal shaded Everett, 3-2, in a Sideling Hill League game in high school softball Friday.

Everett dropped to 11-7 overall and 10-4 in the Sideling Hill League.

SALTSBURG – Brody Bioda knocked in three runs to lead Saltsburg to victory over Bishop Carroll in an opening-round District 6 Class A baseball playoff game Thursday.

Carroll, which finished the season with a 6-11 record, got three RBIs from Zach Farabaugh.

Altoona Teener Major

Juniata Civics pulled off a mild upset, scoring four runs in the seventh inning to knock off Police, 11-8, in an Altoona Teener Major League game at Seitz Field.

Police fell to 6-2 while Juniata improved to 4-2.

Bryce Bossinger had three hits and an RBI for the winners, while teammate Troy Livermore added two hits and three RBIs.

Police got three hits and two RBIs from Jarrett Cavalet to go with two hits and two RBIs from Cullen Gahagan.

n Bubba Johnson drove in four runs to lead Postal Express to an 11-6 win over Furrer Beverage late Thursday night at Seitz Field.

Postal’s Alex Hoenstine, Jarod Kutz and Mark Ferry had two hits each. Furrer’s Josh Russo had three hits and three RBIs, and teammate Josh Trybus had two hits.
