Colts rally to stun BG in five

Northern Cambria rallied from a 2-0 deficit to upend Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic in five sets (23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 15-13) in high school boys volleyball at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium Friday.

Northern Cambria improved to 8-1 on the season while Bishop Guilfoyle dropped to 11-3.

Nick Little led BG with 19 kills followed by 17 kills from Damon Rickens. Jamey Brumbaugh added 11 points and 18 digs while Ben Kasun added 48 assists. Collin Welteroth served 12 points and Brennan Hurd chipped in 13 digs.


BISHOP GUILFOYLE: Welteroth 12, Brumbaugh 11, Little 7, Hurd 6, Kasun 3, Rickens 2.

Records: BG 11-3, Northern Cambria 9-1.

Bishop Carroll juniors edge PC

EBENSBURG – Bishop Carroll defeated Penn Cambria, 27-25, 25-27, 17-15, in junior high girls action.

BC’s Jordyn Platt had 11 service points, 10 kills and 17 assists, and teammate Hannah Cotchen had 12 kills. BC is 14-2 overall and 12-2 in the Laurel Highlands Conference, while Penn Cambria is 12-2 in the conference.

JV: Bishop Carroll, 25-17, 25-21.
