Brown, Dixon win 3rd straight title

PHILIPSBURG – Pat Brown and Jim Dixon captured their third straight W. Carl Lupton Men’s Tournament title and seventh overall on Monday at the Philipsburg Country Club.

Bob Mitchell and Nate Lucas finished second, while Doug Goss and Bill Jones placed third.

Adam Timchak and Scott Nelson won the first flight, while Dave McCahan and Bill Phillips took second, and Nick Gmerek and Sam Demko finished third. Mike Healey and Kevin Hahn won the second flight, while Andrew Mann and Ryan Nartatez finished second, and Jack and Jon Vesnesky placed third.

Andy and Andrew Reifer won the third flight, while Todd Reifer and Tim Ronan placed second, and Bob Smith and John Frank finished third. Derick Weitoish and Jeremy Potter won the fourth flight, while Ed and Gene Yarger took second, and Arnie Foradori and Jim Mickney finished third.

Jason Vaux and Tony Kovaloski won the fifth flight, while Nick Wasilko and Kevin Knepp placed second, and Al Anderson and Max Miller took third. Dean Woodring and John Whitman won the sixth flight, while Girard Kasubick and Jim Moskel took second, and Dave Harper and Lee Martell finished third.

Tracy Branthoover and Becky Reifer won the women’s championship, while Nancy Moskel and Georgiann Way took second, and Gabi Barnett and Dee Danko placed third.

Park Hills

Todd Homan, Al Laich and Bill Houey carded a 129 to win the Park Hills Country Club’s Three-Man Scramble, while John Koury, Alan Beck and Kevin McGeary (137) finished second.

Jeff Wolfe, Eric Irwin and Dave Dwyer (138) placed third, while John Baker, Lee Fink and Tom Smith (139) finished fourth.

Darlene Grove, Lynn Grove, Tom Barry and Dennis Coho won the gross division with a 139, while Alan Beck, Ken Knepp, Jordan Kirsch and Nolan Robbins (142) took second, and Greg Michelone, Lisa Michelone, Alex Elliott and Josh Porta finished third.

Dave Colmer, Maria Colmer and Ron Dandrea and Hammer (121) won the net division, while Bob Lestochi, Bill Dambeck, Gerry Riley and Hank Codd (124) placed second, and Basil Mannino, Donna Mannino, Don Gillespie and Paul Smith finished third.

On May 21, in the Ladies Day Odds and Evens event, Nancy Moore won the first gross (odds), while Darlene Grove won the first gross (evens), Janet Grove won the first net (odds) and Doe Bolger took the first net (evens).


CRESSON – Keith Saleme, Todd Burkett, Mike Dunmyer and Ian Dunmyer carded a 58 to win the Summit Country Club’s Mike Tremel Memorial Scholarship Fund Outing on Saturday.

The team of D.J. Michina, Rick Slebodnik, Mike Reese and Frank Szczechowicz (59) finished second, while Denny Michina Sr., Jim Repko, Roger Crist and Randy Repko (59) took third.

Skill prize winners were Sam Mignogna (long drive on 3), Jim Bart (closest tee shot on 4), Denny Michina Sr. (closest tee shot on 8), Craig Tremel (closest tee shot on 12), Brent Davison (closest second shot on 15) and Reese (longest drive on 18).

Sinking Valley

TYRONE – Bob Kelly, Jean Kelly, Andy Kushner and Marvin Murray carded a 122 to win the Sinking Valley Country Club’s Memorial Day Modified Scramble by a stroke over Artie Fink, Chris Perry, Terry DelBaggio and Rob Hippo (123).

Closest to the pin winners were Dick Quarello (No. 2) and Hippo (No. 10).


HUNTINGDON – Geoff Clarke carded a 36 for the low gross, and Fred Lear scored a 32 for the low net in the Huntingdon Country Club’s Big Orange Golf League.

Bill Frazier’s drive on the 12th hole was the shot of the day.
