Unbeaten Central dumps Tigers

HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Central girls softball team improved to 7-0 Thursday afternoon thanks to an 8-2 win at Hollidaysburg in high school action at Legion Park.

Central, which led 2-0 after three innings, got three hits and two RBIs from Cassidi Barnes. Teammate Kassidy Snyder added two hits and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Kylie Gunnett scattered five hits, struck out five and walked just one.

Hollidaysburg (2-3) got two hits each from Krista Shay and Kaylee Beaudoin.

TYRONE – Makenzie Burge, Abby Showers and Haylee Hayward had three hits each in Philipsburg-Osceola’s win over Tyrone.

Burge and Hayward knocked in four runs apiece, and Haley Frank had two hits. Kate Burge struck out 10, but Tyrone had seven hits, including two apiece by Destiny Allen and Jordan Henderson.

Stephanie Deaner and Samantha Knisely each had two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Lions. Everett’s Kadie Morral had a pair of hits and knocked in two runs for Everett.

PATTON – Cori James gave up just two hits and didn’t walk a batter and got backed by 12 hits as Cambria Heights dispatched visiting Laurel Highlands Conference rival Central Cambria in 4 innings.

Alyssa Wills homered and knocked in two runs for Heights, which also got a double, two singles and three RBIs from Cara Kordell and two doubles from Lindsey Kosicki. The Lady Highlanders’ Heidi Cranz also had a pair of hits.
