Tussey’s Curfman hits 2 homers in win over NBC

LOYSBURG – Tinesha Curfman blasted two home runs and struck out 12 from the circle to lead Tussey Mountain over Northern Bedford, 7-2, in high school softball Monday.

Morgan Eshelman recorded her 100th strikeout of the season in the loss.

Bedford picked up its first win of the season, with a three-inning victory over winless Bishop Guilfoyle.

Bedford, which scored 18 runs in the second inning, got four hits and four RBIs from freshmen Cassandra Smith, along with two hits and four RBIs from fellow freshmen Alyssa Turkovich.

Guilfoyle got two hits each from Jess Sanders and Allie Worley.

Tiger juniors sweep Altoona

Hollidaysburg swept host Altoona, 12-2 and 14-7, in a junior high doubleheader.

In the first game, Hollidaysburg’s Aubrey Stitt and Kaitlyn Cappella had two hits apiece, and Mikayla Focht struck out seven in the win.

In the second game, Focht had three hits, including a home run. Hailey Shaffer and Morgan Seiler scored three runs apiece. Capella got the pitching win. Hollidaysburg raised its record to 12-6, while Altoona dropped to 0-10.
