Central’s Ritchey, Albright combine on no-hitter

MARTINSBURG – Lexi Ritchey and Brooke Albright combined on a no-hitter for Central in an 11-1 victory over Clearfield in high school softball Wednesday.

Ritchey pitched the first four innings and Albright the final inning.

Ashley Smith recorded two doubles and three RBIs for the Lady Dragons.

Central is now 6-0.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA – Northern Cambria improved to 3-2 on the season by mercy-ruling Harmony in three innings in a non-league game.

Kelly Lieb and Lakyn Fornari teamed to hold Harmony hitless over three innings. Ashley Farabaugh had two hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in four runs for Northern Cambria, which also got two RBIs apiece from Jenna Lecorchick and Jordan Tenerowiscz.

Tenerowiscz, Brooke Bernard, Bre Sabella and Alyssa Walters also each had two hits apiece to spearhead Northern Cambria’s 19-hit attack.

JOHNSTOWN – Kelly Yusko had two hits, including a double, knocked in three runs and was the winning pitcher to lead Penn Cambria past Richland in a game that included a half-hour rain delay.

PC’s Emily Roberts had two RBIs. Nicki Mihalik, Jordan Syfurt had two hits each off of Yusko, who yielded seven hits, struck out six and walked none.

C-K juniors beat Tussey Mountain

SAXTON – Paige Burk celebrated her birthday by crushing a grand slam home run in the seventh inning, sparking a six-run rally that lifted Claysburg-Kimmel to an 8-6 victory over Tussey Mountain in junior high softball.

Winning pitcher Abby Locke allowed just four Tussey Mountain hits in six innings of relief for Claysburg (2-3).

Hollidaysburg splits twinbill

HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Hollidaysburg junior high team split a twinbill with Park Forest, winning the opener, 3-1, while dropping the nightcap,1 6-1.

Mikayla Focht got the win for the Lady Tigers in the opener. Olivia Seeley delivered a game-winning, two-run single. In the nightcap, Aubree Garman got the only RBI for the Lady Tigers, now 1-4.
