Ridge has five guys ranked by Off The Mat

The first Off The Mat Class AA rankings were released by editor Mark Dugan, and 11 area wrestlers were in the top 10 in their respective weight classes, and five of them were from Chestnut Ridge.

The Lions’ Austin Buttry was ranked fifth at 285, and Tyler Dibert was ranked seventh at 182, while teammates Derrick Claar at 126, Bradie Bollman at 170 and Dan Albright at 195 were all ninth.

Bedford’s Jonathan Gabriel, who was fourth at 106, was the highest ranked area wrestler, while Huntingdon’s Collin Glorioso was sixth at the same weight. Bedford’s Ryan Easter was seventh at 126, while teammate Garrett Thomas was 10th at 132.

Moshannon Valley’s James Stodart was fifth at 195, while Tyrone’s Jared Beckwith was ninth at 182.

Chestnut Ridge is ranked third in the team rankings behind Bethlehem Catholic and Biglerville. Bedford is ranked 15th.

Forest Hills’ Cody Law was ranked No. 1 at 160, while Blairsville’s Scott Thompson was second at 182.

Wildcats are rolling

Central Mountain defeated Bald Eagle Area, 37-21, on Saturday. The Wildcats are 8-1 and have run off eight straight wins since their Dec. 20 32-30 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola. That run includes a 57-17 win over Bellefonte.

Trojans reach milestone

Mount Union’s 51-25 win over Moshannon Valley on Jan. 3 was the program’s 500th victory.
