Easton wins 4th consecutive Manheim title

Easton continued its dominance at the Manheim Holiday Tournament, capturing its fourth straight team title at the rugged event by 62.5 points, 232.5-170, over North Allegheny.

The Rovers had three champs in James Saylor (126), Robbie Rizzolino (132) and Evan DiSora (160), three runners-up and 11 placewinners.

Bald Eagle Area’s Jake Taylor earned his third Manheim title with a hard-fought 3-1 overtime win over Easton’s Tyler Greene at 182 pounds. Taylor’s teammate, Nate Sharkey, won the 220-pound title with a 3-2 win over Reynolds’ Logan Rickert. The Eagles finished eighth in the team standings.

Reynolds’ Austin Matthews won the 152-pound crown and his 150th career victory and was voted the Outstanding Wrestler. Reynolds, which finished third with 160 points, had another champ in Michael Bartolo (113), two runners-up and 10 placewinners.

Glorioso takes second

Huntingdon’s Coltin Glorioso lost in the 106-pound finals of the Conestoga Valley Holiday Classic, 3-2, to DuBois’ Shae Bloom on Saturday. The Bearcats finished 13th in the team standings.

Owen J. Roberts won the team title by a half point, 178-177.5, over Spring Grove and probably had scorekeepers and followers scrambling to make sure everything was tallied right.

DuBois (155) finished fourth, while District 6 teams Juniata (93) and Mifflin County (87.5) were 10th and 12th, respectively.
