Covering the bases

LEADING OFF: The Curve were rained out Monday night at Binghamton. The teams will play a doubleheader tonight beginning at 5:35.

SAFE AT FIRST: Pitchers tonight: Curve RHP Pedro Vasquez (3-0, 2.73) and TBD vs. Rumble Ponies LHP Anthony Kay (3-2, 1.47) and LHP David Peterson (1-2, 5.06). Note that Binghamton is starting a lefty in both ends of the doubleheader, a rarity in pro ball, especially in the minor leagues.

STEALING SECOND: The Curve and Rumble Ponies will play this doubleheader tonight, then turn around for a 10:35 a.m. start Wednesday. So they’ll complete three full games in the span of about 18 hours.

ROUNDING THIRD: Tonight marks the Curve’s first games against a team from the Eastern Division. They’ll get back to Western Division competition for four games this weekend against Harrisburg, then it will be 13 straight games against the Eastern Division.

HEADING HOME: The Curve are 11-6 on the road, compared to 7-11 at home.
