Covering the bases: Tebow goes to DL
LEADING OFF: The Curve were rained out Saturday night at Reading. The teams will play a doubleheader today beginning at 3 p.m.
SAFE AT FIRST: Binghamton OF Tim Tebow was placed on the 7-day disabled list Saturday with a hand injury, meaning he almost certainly will not play against the Curve when the Rumble Ponies come to town this week. It’s unclear if he will even make the trip to Altoona with Binghamton. Tebow could conceivably come off the DL during the series against the Curve, but hand injuries usually require a longer DL stint than seven days.
STEALING SECOND: Tebow will visit a hand specialist in New York, possibly as early as Monday. There had been hope that the former football player could get called up to the big leagues this season by the Mets, but as of now, the hand injury could be a big concern, depending on what the hand specialist finds.
ROUNDING THIRD: Pitchers for today’s DH: Curve LHP Taylor Hearn (3-5, 3.23) and RHP Logan Sendelbach (2-2, 5.10) vs. Fightin Phils RHP Franklyn Kilome (4-6, 4.23) and TBD.
HEADING HOME: Following today’s doubleheader, the Curve will head to Akron for a three-game series beginning Monday.
