Covering the bases

LEADING OFF: The Curve were rained out Sunday afternoon against Erie at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Aug. 11. It was the fourth time the Curve have been rained out during the first month of the season, three of them at home.

SAFE AT FIRST: Pirates RHP Joe Musgrove was scheduled to make a rehab start for the Curve on Sunday, but he was scratched even before the game was postponed because of the threat of bad weather. Musgrove will now make his start tonight and pitch four innings as the Curve open a series against Bowie at 6 p.m.

STEALING SECOND: RHP Dario Agrazal was in line to pitch Sunday after Musgrove was scratched, so he will miss out on his start this time through the rotation. Agrazal is scheduled to pitch after Musgrove is finished tonight.

ROUNDING THIRD: LHP Jayson Aquino will make his first start for the Baysox since getting demoted from Triple-A Norfolk, where he went 1-2 with a 4.26 ERA.

HEADING HOME: Akron has surged into first place in the Western Division by winning five in a row and nine out of 10. The Curve are in third place, two games behind the RubberDucks.
