Beasley doing well in cancer battle

Former Curve manager and Pirates third base coach Tony Beasley was diagnosed with rectal cancer in February. He went through chemotherapy treatments and was able to spend a good bit of the season with the Texas Rangers, although as a bench coach rather than at third base.

Beasley was in excellent spirits when contacted Monday and said he’s doing well.

“I’ve got one more round of chemo left to do,” he said. “I’m still out in Texas and will finish that up. But everything is going well, and I’ll be ready to roll in spring training and ready to go.”
