Curve outlast Senators

HARRISBURG – Defense was hard to come by Friday night in Harrisburg, and it created another long night at Metro Bank Park.

Thanks to Jarek Cunningham’s pinch-hit, solo home run in the 11th, the Curve survived the slugfest with a 13-12 win over the Senators. It’s their ninth straight win over the Senators.

Cunningham, who hit his fifth long ball of the year, was activated off the disabled list earlier in the day.

Both teams scored a combined 25 runs, racked up 34 hits and recorded six errors. The Curve also hit six homers on the day.

It’s not the first time the Curve have had a game where both teams scored 10 runs. They defeated New Britain, 11-10, on June 15, 2011 gainst New Britain.

This is the first time the Curve have scored 10 runs in a game since they scored their season best 11 runs in a blowout victory over Trenton.

The starters were both ran from the game early. Orlando Castro, who was called up from Single-A Bradenton earlier in the day, gave up seven runs on seven hits in three innings.

It was as bad of a night for Brian Dupra who gave up the same of runs, on eight hits in the same total frames.

Alen Hanson and Drew Maggi both reached with singles in the first, and both scored on Dan Gamache’s double.
