Bell moving up

Pirates prized outfield prospect Josh Bell, who received a $5 million signing bonus in 2011, reportedly is on his way to joining the Curve, according to a tweet late Monday night from a teammate at high-A Bradenton.

Outfielder Barrett Barnes tweeted to Bell: “futures game yesterday, game winning hit today, and the call up to AA tonight.”

The Mirror could not confirm Barnes’ tweet late Monday.

Bell, one of the top prospects in the Pirates’ system, hit .335 with nine homers and 53 RBIs in 84 games for Bradenton. He also smacked 20 doubles and had an .886 OPS.

Bell, just 21 years old, was a second-round draft pick in 2011.
