Pimentel’s struggles continue for Curve
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Stolmy Pimentel probably wishes the calendar only had 11 months so he could skip May.
Pimentel’s poor pitching in the fifth month of the year continued as he allowed four runs and 10 hits while Binghamton came from behind to beat the Curve, 6-4, before 3,798 fans at NYSEG Stadium on Thursday morning in the series finale.
Even though Pimentel didn’t get a decision, he gave up a 3-0 lead, allowing all four runs in the fifth and sixth innings. It was the second time in the series the B-Mets came from behind to win.
Pimentel’s ERA in May is 7.15, sky-rocketing to 3.92 overall from 0.30 in April. He has not earned a win in six starts, going 0-3 in May.
The Curve jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second, but the B-Mets scored runs in the fifth and sixth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Andrew Lambo’s homer in the sixth inning had made it 4-2 Curve.
Pimentel was taken out at the end of the sixth, and Quinton Miller (0-1) took the loss when he gave up two runs in the eighth inning.
Pimentel allowed 10 of the 12 hits Binghamton collected.
The Curve struggled offensively, as well. The team had just one hit after the second inning – Lambo’s home run – finishing the day with four.
Binghamton’s Adam Kolarek (2-1) got the win in two innings of relief, and Jeff Walters earned his 13th save.
The Curve are 1-4 in their last five and 2-8 in the last 10, and they are 11 games under .500.
