Pitching still shining for the Curve

From Mirror reports

HARRISBURG – Just about any pitcher in the same starting rotation as Jameson Taillon is going to get overshadowed somewhat, but so far the Curve have two other starters who deserve their share of recognition.

Stolmy Pimentel leads the Eastern League with a 0.00 ERA through three starts, while Taillon is second at 1.00. Casey Sadler is tied for the league lead in wins with three, and he’s also eighth in the circuit with a 2.16 ERA.

Sadler tossed seven superb innings Sunday, giving up just one run on four hits, as the Curve beat Harrisburg, 4-1, at Metro Bank Park. Sadler improved to 3-0 and has yet to have any issues at all making the jump to Double-A.

Sadler made only one mistake, giving up a solo homer to Brian Goodwin in the sixth inning. Jose Contreras pitched a perfect eighth in his second appearance with the Curve, then Jason Townsend worked the ninth to earn his first save.

The Curve have dropped to second in the EL in team ERA at 3.58, slightly behind Binghamton (3.48) but nearly half a run better than any other team.

Matt Curry ripped his third homer for a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, and the Curve made it 2-0 in the sixth when Andy Vasquez scored on a single by Gift Ngoepe and error by Harrisburg left fielder Jose Lozada.

The Curve added two insurance runs in the eighth inning, with Vasquez singling home Carlos Paulino for the first. Sadler hit for himself in the inning in a sacrifice bunt situation, and he wound up reaching on the bunt – which was ruled a single and later came home on an error by third baseman Sean Nicol.

Senators starter Blake Treinen (1-3) took the loss, giving up four runs – two earned – in seven innings. He gave up seven hits but struck out eight with no walks.
