Tyrone outlasts Lady Mounties

H.S. Girls Volleyball

TYRONE — Mattie Cherry registered 11 service points to pace Tyrone in a 25-15, 25-21, 20-25, 23-25, 15-13 win over Mountain League foe Philipsburg-Osceola on Thursday in high school girls volleyball.

Regan Irons had 11 kills and 12 digs for Tyrone, while Makenna Bauer had 13 kills and Cherry added 24 assists.

Brianna Foy led the way for the Lady Eagles with 18 service points.

Kalista Butler fronted P-O with 12 service points.

SAXTON — Tussey Mountain defeated Northern Bedford 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.

Tussey got seven kills from Sophie Brumbaugh to go with four kills from Meghan Molosky. Brumbaugh also added eight aces, while Ashlyn Eltman contributed four and Molosky three.

Makayla Kochara had 10 service points to go with five kills from Madison Johnson and three blocks from Addie Sipes for the Lady Panthers.

Reagan Ferguson had 26 service points and Lauren Simpson had 18 service points for Hollidaysburg.

Spikers lose

Clarion defeated Altoona 25-11, 25-19, 25-22, dropping the Lady Spikers to 1-1.

Altoona got 13 assists from Evy Stroup, eight digs from Julia Savino and five kills and five blocks from Ireland McClellan.

Belle Bosch had 14 digs, seven kills, three aces and 13 solo blocks for the Lady Lions, and Matti McMillen had 23 service points.

Alaina Lafferty tallied 19 service points for Chestnut Ridge, while Bosch and Lydia Martin totaled 16, Chelsea Harr added 15 and Riley Frankenberry amassed 11.
