Roose, Foor net double OT winning goals

H.S. Boys Soccer

EBENSBURG — Evan Roose scored on a penalty kick with just over a minute left in the second overtime to give Chestnut Ridge the 3-2 Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference victory over Central Cambria on Thursday in high school boys soccer.

The Lions’ Jonah Zembower opened the scoring in the first half, then the Red Devils got goals from Troy Shope and Corey Roberts to take the lead.

CR’s Masen Osman tied the match with less than 10 minutes to play that sent the match into overtime.

WINDBER — Brady Foor scored on an assist from Luca Fierro in the sixth minute of the second overtime to lift Everett to a win over Windber.

“We played a really physical team in Windber,” Everett coach Brad Zembower said. “They are always a tough matchup. It was back-and-forth early in the game, but Windber controlled the second half. When we got to overtime, our guys found another gear and Brady Foor gave us the win in the second overtime.

Ethan Murphy earned the shutout for the Warriors.

PHILIPSBURG — Ashton Crownover notched a goal and an assist to lead Philipsburg-Osceola to a shutout win over Central.

Alex Godin scored the opener for P-O, while Tom Pelesky finished things off.

Caleb Pellerite earned the shutout win in goal for the Mounties, which outshot the Scarlet Dragons by a 12-4 margin.

Bishop Guilfoyle 3

Bishop Guilfoyle allowed a 2-1 halftime lead to slip away in the second half in a loss to Bishop Carroll in Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference action.

Devan Wyandt had all three Guilfoyle goals.

Jackson Hudkins, Edwin Maykovich and Nathan Farabaugh each netted two goals to get the win for Bishop Carroll.

PATTON — Cambria Heights scored the last five goals of the match after Forest Hills struck first in earning the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference win.

Tanner Maurer registered two goals for the Highlanders, while Luke Lamb contributed two assists.

Landon Smeal and Jimmy Ertter also notched goals for Heights.

The Indians’ Darwin Mazaiegos scored once in the opening half, and then opened the second with his second goal.

Tyler Youngblood collected a goal and two assists, while Colby Whitesides earned the shutout in goal.
