Giger’s show provided local perspective
With news this past week that Cory Giger’s radio show has come to an end due to policy changes on AM-1430, a few reflections are in order:
There is no doubt that Giger tended to rub some people the wrong way.
However, for 10¢ years, he provided this area with the only local perspective on sports.
His coverage of Penn State football/wrestling, the Penguins and Pirates was excellent.
He had many guests provide expert opinions such as the late John Mehno and Mark Brennan.
He had coach interviews, including Rob Krimmel of Saint Francis basketball, to give such programs much needed publicity.
Now we are left with the boilerplate ramblings of the national sports talk shows on Sirius XM.
I hope Forever Media will reconsider this decision.
