C-K snaps West Branch’s ICC winning streak

CLAYSBURG — Claysburg-Kimmel pulled off a feat that no Inter-County Conference team had been able to accomplish in six years — it knocked off West Branch in five sets on Thursday in high school girls volleyball action.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped the first two sets (25-16 and 25-21) before claiming the final three (25-10, 25-23 and 19-17).

“This is so awesome — so exciting,” Claysburg-Kimmel coach Allison McMullen said. “The girls are so happy with this win.”

The Lady Warriors had previously won 86 straight matches in the ICC.

Corryne Weyandt led C-K with 18 assists and 14 service points, including three aces, while Bailey Garver came through with 13 points and 11 digs.

Justinna Brown tallied 11 points and nine kills, Rebekah Claar served up 10 points, Megan Hartman registered nine kills, while Jocelyn Shultz and Jazmin Kennedy had four and three blocks apiece, respectively as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-3.

Morgan Glace led West Branch with 28 assists and 10 service points, including five aces, while Taylor Myers tallied 14 kills and Taylor Kalke added 11.

Cheyenne Harris paced the Lady Warriors with 17 service points, and Emma Morlock served up 11 as WB fell to 21-1.

CC moves to 11-1

Central Cambria improved to 11-1 on the season with a sweep of Bishop Guilfoyle (25-14, 25-16, 25-15) at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium.

Jenna Bauer led the Central Cambria offense with 14 kills and added 14 digs while Leah Bracken recorded 36 assists and 12 service points.

Emily Muffie served up 16 points, nine kills and 17 digs and Liz Bopp had 10 kills and eight blocks. Ashley Grimes had nine kills and six blocks while Cass Bezek had 17 digs.

Bishop Guilfoyle’s Emily Brown recorded 11 digs to surpass the 500-dig milestone in her career. Gabby Krug had 19 assists while Pam Lund had seven kills for BG (9-3).

Henry paces Heights

CRESSON — Emily Henry had 11 service points, 18 kills, four digs and six blocks as Cambria Heights defeated Penn Cambria in Laurel Highlands Conference action 25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 26-24.

Olivia Conrad had 14 kills and 20 digs for the Lady Highlanders, and Nicole McCombie totaled 36 assists. Jocelyn Rezk led Cambria Heights with 19 service points.

Penn Cambria’s Mia McCarthy had 10 service points, 15 kills and 12 digs.

Sara Muriceak led the Lady Huskies (12-0) with 16 assists and Kayla Repko had 11 digs.

The Lady Blue Devils got 10 service points from Hope Shook, including three aces, to go with nine kills and two digs. Kaelynn Behrens added eight service points, including five aces, to go with 10 kills and two blocks from Sakeria Haralson. Teammate Sydney Lechner added 26 assists.

Williamsburg got nine service points from Caitlyn Kensinger.

HOUTZDALE — Hayden Taylor’s 34 assists and 10 service points sparked Juniata Valley to a four-set victory over Moshannon Valley, 25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-10.

Emma Musser tallied 19 kills and nine blocks, Halee Smith registered 14 kills and seven blocks, while Reagan Lightner totaled 10 points and Maddy Beasom came through with 10 kills for the Lady Hornets.

Lady Tigers victorious

MILL HALL — Hollidaysburg defeated Central Mountain 25-19, 25-9, 25-15 to improve to 7-2.

Olivia DiPangrazio led the winners with 20 service points and 17 digs to go with 25 assists, 15 service points and 10 digs from Reagan Ferguson. Claire Sauerland added 12 kills to go with seven kills and seven digs from Lindsey Everett, seven kills from Isabella George and eight digs from Rylee Ritko.

Ridge falls to Westmont

NEW PARIS — Chestnut Ridge won the second game (10-25) but fell in the other three (25-19, 25-23, 25-23) to fall to Westmont Hilltop.

Lydia Mock collected 33 assists and seven kills to front the Lady Lions, while Alaina Lafferty recorded 30 assists.
