Ramus shoots Mustangs to victory

PORTAGE — Bill Ramus shot a 281 to lead Portage to a 1,359-1,259 win over Shanksville-Stoneycreek on Thursday in high school rifle.

Teammate Summer Viscussi shot a 274 and Bob Troxell added a 273 in the win for the Mustangs (8-3).

Colts fall to Cougars

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Despite a 253 score from Victoria Smith, the Northern Cambria rifle team fell to North Star, 1,281-1,169.

North Star got a 269 from Kaylee Thomas.

Altoona shut out Johnstown, 4-0, in high school ice hockey Thursday.

Owen Kravetz scored two goals, and Evan Montgomery recorded 32 saves while notching the shutout. Tyler Umbleby and Cole Yeckley scored the Lions’ other goals.

Altoona improved to 15-0-1.
