Yahner, Carroll topple Guilfoyle in three

H.S. Girls Volleyball

EBENSBURG — Kate Yahner had 11 kills, 10 digs and nine service points as Bishop Carroll swept Bishop Guilfoyle in a Laurel Highlands Conference high school girls volleyball match, 25-14, 25-12, 25-8, on Thursday.

Kayla Repko chipped in with 14 service points and 27 assists for the Lady Huskies, who also received 10 digs from Anna Haigh, 13 service points from Mara Yahner, eight kills and six blocks from Maddie Murphy and 11 service points from Carly Clark.

Beth Yahner came up with 14 digs, while Emily Brown and Kylee Goodling each had 11 digs for Guilfoyle. Gabby Krug had 14 assists, and Pam Lund made four kills.

Lady Devils sweep

PATTON — Central Cambria improved to 15-2 with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 win at Cambria Heights.

Jenna Bauer and Emily Muffie led the team in kills with 14 and 11, respectively, while Leah Bracken had 35 assists and 16 digs, and Abbie Young had 18 digs.

Heights (8-8) had 11 digs each from Charlotte Farabaugh, who also led the team in kills with seven, and Taylor Eckenrode, who had four kills and also registered a block.

Cherry leads Tyrone

TYRONE — Tyrone, behind 30 assists, 18 service points and six digs from Mattie Cherry, defeated Philipsburg-Osceola in four sets, 25-23, 25-20, 16-25, 25-17.

Ebonee Rice had 16 digs, Lea Crofcheck tallied 12 kills and Brianna Foy had 11 kills for the Lady Golden Eagles.

Weyandt paces C-K

CLAYSBURG — Claysburg-Kimmel, behind 13 service points, including four aces, 13 assists and 11 digs from Corryne Weyandt defeated Juniata Valley in four sets, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22.

Christina Hunter delivered 14 points with four aces, Justinna Brown had 12 kills and three blocks, Emily Claar contributed nine kills and six blocks and Megan Hartman tallied 10 service points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Halee Smith led the Lady Hornets with 18 kills and Kim Harker totaled 15 digs.

BELLWOOD — Bellwood-Antis captured the decisive fifth set to claim victory over Mount Union, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-11.

Kamryn Mercer led the Lady Blue Devils with 12 kills and 11 service points, while Sakeria Haralson totalted 16 blocks and 12 kills, Sydney Lechner dished out 26 assists and Alexis Parson collected 13 points.

Kadyn Criswell led the Lady Trojans with 22 assists and 16 digs, while Morgan Brumbaugh amassed 21 service points and Taylor Fortney came up with 18 kills.

PORTAGE — North Star defeated Portage 25-11, 25-20, 25-18.

Izzy Crum and Kylee McCarty each registered nine service points for the Lady Mustangs, which ended the season at 7-12, while Kylie and Caitlyn Papcun each had four blocks for Portage.
