Henry "Hank" Nathaniel Lee, 82, Altoona, went to be present with the Lord Friday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Helen Heser Whiting and James McKelvie Lee. He married Carole A. Smith on May 20, 1978.
Surviving are his wife, Carole; a son, Julian; a daughter, Carolyn; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rashaan.
Henry was a graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Korean War, serving from Nov. 19, 1952, to Sept. 8, 1954. While serving, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal W/1, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal for Korea, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal, with his most significant duty assignment being with the SVDC Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment (Korea).
Before the war he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. After the war he continued working for the PRR and then Conrail, retiring after 42 years of employment.
Henry was a faithful husband, a solid provider and most importantly, a dad. He was an avid chess and bridge player. He was also an athlete, playing college basketball for Wilberforce University and local recreation league basketball for many, many years.
