James B. Treese, 84, Altoona, went to be with the Lord Tuesday at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.
He was born in Juniata, son of the late Clarence C. and Pearl E. (Hamilton) Treese. He married Joann E. "Tillie" Tillett on June 13, 1953, in Juniata, and she preceded him in death Feb. 22, 2011.
Surviving are two sons: Cory and wife, Traci, and Kerry and wife, Lisa, all of Altoona; a daughter, Lori Kensinger and husband, Mark, of Duncansville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Wilcy Moore.
James was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He retired in 1978 after 15 years of service from Best Foods as a sales representative, and prior to that, he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a car repairman. He was a past president of the Altoona Jaycees. He was a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Juniata and recently attended Leamersville Grace Brethren Church.
James enjoyed golfing, listening to music, playing cards, taking care of his pet birds and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 27, 2014, and 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, Pastor Mark Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
