William T. "Bill" Love, 90, Altoona, formerly of 1402 Second Ave., passed away Monday at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles H. and Magdalena (Schrenk) Love.
Surviving are cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles F.; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Love.
Bill was a 1942 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a corporal during WWII. He retired in March 1985 as press room superintendent for the Altoona Mirror with over 40 years of service.
Bill was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona, and Park Hills Country Club and a lifetime member the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed bowling and golfing with his buddies, having bowled the first perfect "300" game at Pleasant Valley Recreation Center. He was affectionately known to many as "Uncle Bill."
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona, officiated by Monsignor Timothy P. Stein. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Altoona.
