Penn State Altoona senior men's swimmer Jay Wareham has been named to the Honorable Mention category of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America's Division III Scholar All-America team.
Wareham is the first Penn State Altoona men's swimmer in program history to earn a spot on the CSCAA's Scholar All-America squad.
At the conclusion of his junior year, Wareham held a 3.92 cumulative grade point average and has achieved no less than a 3.8 GPA in any of his semesters at Penn State Altoona. He was also named the school's 2013-2014 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was selected to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's All-Academic Team.
Wareham also posted a successful season in the pool during his junior campaign. During February's AMCC Championships, he earned first team All-Conference status in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which he was a member of the title-winning squad for the Lions. Wareham also qualified for the finals in two individual events - the 200 Yard IM and 100 Yard Freestyle - during the conference championships.
Juniata picked fifth
TOWSON, MD- The Landmark Conference released its 2014 preseason poll on Monday. The Juniata field hockey team was picked to finish fifth in the eight-team conference with 30 points.
Defending champion Catholic was chosen to once again defend its title.
