Led by Trentin Martin's medalist score of 78, Altoona defeated Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic (329-409) in high school golf on Monday in the season opener for both schools at the Park Hills Country Club.
Derek Fink and Nate Lawhead also carded scores of 83 for the Mountain Lions, while Max Benzel's score of 87 led Bishop Guilfoyle.

Ridge claims Cup
BEDFORD - Chestnut Ridge, behind the top two finishers, slipped past Northern Bedford by one stroke in capturing the Bedford County Cup held at Bedford Springs.
Hunter Biesinger shot an 83 to win the individual crown, while teammate Derrick Claar had an 85 as Ridge had 365 points as a team.
Patrick Black and Austin Detwiler both shot 88 as Northern finished with 366.
Bedford was third with 371 points, while Everett ended the day with a 398.

EBENSBURG - Dom Stevens established a new course record by carding a 66 as Central Cambria opened its season with an easy victory, 369-504, over Forest Hills at the Ebensburg Country Club
Jeremy Eckenrode and Gabe Seymour finished tied for second with a pair of 72, while Collin Seymour had a 79 and Alex Kiepert shot an 80.

Hannah Brown and Jordan Ruhlman teamed for one Bedford doubles win, and Megan Moorhead and Hannah Elyard accounted for another doubles victory.
