Why did you get into coaching?: "Eighteen years ago, my dad came to me with an advertisement in the newspaper for a local high school job and he just asked, 'You want to coach?' And I said, 'OK.' Eighteen years later I do it because I have the opportunity to work with young people. I have the opportunity to help impact their lives and change their life in a positive manner. It's the most rewarding gift that I can have."
What is your coaching philosophy?: "Accountability. I want my players to be accountable for all their actions on and off the field. I want them to be accountable for being playmakers and being good fathers and good citizens and good students and good people."
What do you enjoy most about being at Penn State?: "It's a great university. I had the opportunity to play here. I had great success as a player. I'm looking forward to having great success as a coach. Penn State has been great to me and my family, and this is just a small token of me giving back a little big."
What is your best memory or story about James Franklin?: "James is a people's guy. He's very personable. I remember when he first brought me on board, he welcomed me as if I were with him the last 10 years. He just made me feel so welcomed to the Penn State family. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity he's provided me and my family."
