Chalmer L. Sell, 83, King, passed away Wednesday at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Bowser) Sell. He married Marie Feather on Aug. 19, 1949, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Kent and wife, Cathy, and Terry and wife, Nancy, all of King; five grandchildren: Korie Counts and husband, Danny, Matthew and wife, Kim, Kelly, Shane and Nathan; five great-grandchildren: Brooke and Lucas Sell and Eli, Benjamin and Jack Counts; two brothers: Edwin of Osterburg and Eugene "Sonny" of Bedford; and a sister, Dolores Dobelbower of Birmingham, Ala.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Oliver.
Chalmer was a 1949 graduate of Greenfield Township High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was one of the original employees of Kennametal Inc., Bedford, and retired as a general foreman after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's Reformed Church, King, where he served in various positions throughout the years, and a member of Claysburg American Legion.
Chalmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, mowing grass and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 14, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at St. Mark's Reformed Church, 11355 William Penn Road, Imler, Pastors James Neatrour and Bradley Allison officiating. Interment will be at St. Mark's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to his church or the Claysburg Food Bank.
