Phillip J. Kolarczyk, 60, Gallitzin, died Friday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of Stanley and Victoria (Kulak) Kolarczyk.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary D. Julian; four children: Dr. Lavinia Kolarczyk and her husband, Kevin Rau, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Phillip Jr. and his wife, Shelley, of Houston, Texas, Larry of Newry and Joseph and friend, Rick, of Altoona; two grandchildren: Steele and Cy; his mother of Gallitzin; two brothers: James and Martin, both of Gallitzin, two sisters: Carol Markel of Altoona and Monica of Harrisburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1989; and a sister, Cathy, in 1990.
Phillip was a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, Ebensburg, and a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in biochemistry. He worked as an electrician for Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Phil enjoyed playing bass guitar and watching Steelers football.
Friends were received 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service was held. Phillip was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 11, 2014, the Rev. Albert Ledoux celebrant. Committal will be made at St. Patrick Cemetery.
The family suggests donations be made in Phil's memory to either Carmelite Monastery, 2101 Manor Drive, Loretto, PA 15940, or Sacred Heart Sisters, 866 Cambria Street, Cresson, PA 16630.
