Fairview United Methodist Church, 2214 Fifth St., will hold a block party from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 16. It will include free food and drink, games and prizes.
Sensei Anthony Stultz and Blue Mountain Lotus Society, a Harrisburg-based Buddhist community, will host an interfaith day of reflection from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Flight 93 National Memorial, 6424 Lincoln Highway, Stoystown.
The event will be the first "bearing witness" retreat held at the memorial.
At a bearing witness retreat, as defined by Roshi Bernie Glassman, the founder of the Zen Peacemakers and Sensei Stultz's teacher, participants "bear witness to the wholeness of life" and "plunge into an environment that is so overwhelming that they have no choice but to drop their conditioning and habitual thought patterns."
St. James Lutheran Church, 1407 Eighth Ave., will host the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The service is designed to connect and resonate with women. Peggy Thatcher will preside.

East End United Methodist Church, 405 E. Hudson Ave., will hold Music Night at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Performing will be the Lions & Lamb Band with members Mason McGinnis, Jared Peterman, Dean Maddox and Abby Orr. TJ McCabe, a member of the Black Tie Affair from Williamsport, will perform a cappella. Refreshments will be served.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel National Catholic Church, 136 Hilltop Road, Lilly, will hold a Polish picnic from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 at the church. Ethnic and American food will be served all day.
Entertainment includes: The Masters (gospel) from noon to 1:30 p.m.; Raging Slag (country) 1:30 to 3:30 and 6:30 to 9 p.m.; and the Hallmarks (polka) 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Games will be available.
St. John's Reformed Church of Loysburg will hold a picnic and square dance at 6 p.m. Aug. 16.
Pete Bray will be the caller and members of the 4-H Squares of Bedford will give lessons. Line dancing and familiar specials, like the Hokie Pokie, will take place.
Spectators are invited to bring lawn chairs.
Donations will be accepted for the church's parking lot repaving fund.
Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg, will present its vacation Bible school series, "Weird Animals: Where Jesus' Love is One-of-a-Kind" from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. Monday through Aug. 15 at Canal Basin Park.
A picnic dinner will be served from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. daily.
