James Donald McNabb, 57, Altoona, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Allentown, son of Nancy J. McNabb and the late Donald F. McNabb.
Surviving are his mother and her companion, Jim, of Wyomissing; a brother, Thomas and wife, Kelly, of Blandon; a sister, Jane McNabb Page and husband, Eric, of Wilmington, Del.; two nieces: Britney McNabb Bowman and Gretchen Brower Smith; three nephews: Attorney Christopher Page, Nicholas Page and Dr. Cory McNabb; an aunt, Ann; several cousins; and his stepmother, Dottie McNabb of Lakeland, Fla. Jim will be missed by his cat, Abby.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann McNabb, on March 21, 2013.
Jim was a 1974 graduate of Wilson High School. He was employed in the family business, Berks Lehigh Glass Co. in Reading, and then became part owner of the former Penn Allen Glass Co. in Allentown. He resided in Altoona and worked for Laurel Foodsystems and was a volunteer for the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. Within the last few months, he was employed by On Time Delivery in Altoona, last working on Friday, July 25, 2014.
Jim was an avid golfer and still spent some of his free time visiting the animals at the shelter where he had worked.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.
