Robert Lawrence Leigey, 90, Blairsville, passed away Saturday at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, Pa.
He was born in Frenchville, Clearfield County, son of the late William and Mae (Voinchet) Liegey.
Surviving are four children: James and partner, Dori Sunday, of State College, Linda Naugle and husband, William, of Tyrone, Dan and wife, Louise, of Shelocta and Barbara DeBiase and partner, Jon Henderson, of Boulder, Colo.; 10 grandchildren: Katherine Leigey, Dr. Margaret Leigey, Dr. Daniel Leigey, David Naugle, Dr. Jodi Camberg, Cory Leigey, Zachary Leigey, Matthew Leigey, Peter DeBiase and Jill DeBiase; and two great-grandchildren: Kohen and Anderson Camberg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Claffey), in 1999; and a brother, Dr. Francis Liegey.
Bob graduated from St. Francis High School, Clearfield, in 1942, and he was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been employed by Penelec, Homer City Plant, for 22 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, and served on the Angels of Compassion Ministry.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman well into his late 80s. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Helen, to Texas, Florida and Alaska.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 29, 2014, at Shoemaker Funeral Home Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, Father Stephen R. Bugay as celebrant. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery.
