ACT to hold meeting Friday
Altoona Community Theatre will announce plans for its 2014-15 season at 7 p.m. Friday in the Rehearsal Hall of the ACT Workshop, 1213 12th St., Altoona, next to Tom & Joe's restaurant.
Anyone interested in any aspect of theater is welcome to attend regardless of previous experience or prior involvement with ACT.

At the meeting, Brendan Jesus, an integrative arts major at Penn State Altoona who is directing the first show in ACT's season, "Arsenic and Old Lace," will discuss the production and its auditions.

Dance set for Aug. 9 in Pleasantville
PLEASANTVILLE - A dance to music by White Shadow will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Alum Bank Firehall on Route 96, just north of Route 56.
Admission is $5 per person. The kitchen will open at 5:30 p.m.

Railroad retirees to join for breakfast
All area railroad employees and their spouses are invited to a "dutch treat" breakfast at 9 a.m. Monday at Tom & Joe's restaurant, 1201 13th Ave., Altoona.
Meetings are held the first Monday of each month.
