V. Irene Miner, 86, Graystone Court, Bellemead, died Thursday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Fuoss Mills, Antis Township, daughter of the late Frank K. and Madge Catherine (Purgitt) Halbritter. She married William E. Miner on Dec. 29, 1945, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2002.
Surviving are three children: Linda L. Bryan of DuBois, William E. of Hughesville, Md., and Donna L. Brunner of Bellwood; seven grandchildren: Darren Bryan, Dana McNaul, Kara Posey, Matthew Miner, Beth Ann Weakland, William Brunner Jr. and Brenda Poorman; and eight great-grandchildren: Alicia and Eric Bryan, Madison Posey, John Kimberling Jr., Zane and Benjamin Brunner and Rylee and Owen Poorman.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gerald "Gib" Bryan; six brothers: Don, Richard, Rex, Earl, Ralph and Dean; and a sister, Eulala Taylor.
Irene was a 1945 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and retired from Sears in Altoona. She was a life member of Asbury United Methodist Church and attended Tipton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and enjoyed gardening and reading. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, the Rev. Robert Stump officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
The family suggests that contributions in Irene's memory be made to UPMC Altoona Palliative Care Unit.
