Larry "Zane" Ickes Sr., 75, Claysburg, passed away Thursday at home.
He was born in Pavia, son of the late Clair S. and Jane E. (Harr) Ickes. He married Ruth Amick on April 23, 1960, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Larry Zane Jr. and wife, Dorene, of Claysburg; two sisters: Doris Claycomb and husband, James, of Osterburg and Beverly Isenberg and husband, Timothy, of Claysburg; a brother, Harry of Detroit, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Ickes in Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Ickes; and two brothers: Harold C. and Lloyd.
Zane retired in 2003 from Helsel Lumber Co., Blue Knob, and had previously worked for other lumber companies in the area. He was a member of Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, and he enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and being outdoors.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, Pastor James Neatrour officiating. Interment will be at Upper Claar Cemetery.
